Getting out of the water and changing, whether it is hot or cold outside, is just something we all ‘do’ without overthinking it, but having been sent the NewFlow Portable Pressure Shower to test, I’m not sure things will ever be the same!

It’s a simple concept: fill the shower with hot or cold water before you leave the house, then, when you have finished your chosen sport, pump to build pressure and use it to spray yourself or your kit off.

I love SUP surfing, but I never enjoy getting changed afterwards in the car park, freezing cold and sticky with saltwater. But I have a new friend in the NewFlow shower. What could be better than a warm water shower, and there is no weak, drippy water coming out of this shower head. This is real pressure – there are 10 showerhead settings, and after testing a few, I prefer the classic full wash one.

There is enough water for a proper soap, scrub, and rinse shower or a couple of quick rinse-offs. If you don’t need to wash yourself, it’s perfect too for all the kit or rinsing off your wetsuit and gear before taking it home.

So, how easy is it to use? Unscrew the top and fill it with hot or cold water – that’s the really simple bit. When you need a shower, manually pump to build the pressure – you’ll know when you’re done, as you cannot pump anymore. Then choose the spray you want on the shower head, just turn the switch, which will then give you a gentle spray, a full force single spray or a full wash and many in between. It has a 3m coiled hose, which is long enough to hold above your head or hang from the back of the van. You can hold the spray on or fix it too, so it becomes hands-free.

The thermal neoprene sleeve helps keep water warm in the shower and retains heat if left in the sun. You could even use this to wash the dogs’ muddy paws before they jump in your vehicle, and it’s a practical piece of kit to keep in your van – no hook-up or power needed.
