One of the pleasures of wild camping is to use a fire to cook over, and here is a solution that keeps the fire small and the ground protected.

Wolf and Grizzly Grill and Fire Safe

All the elements fold down and into really neat pouches, so it was easy to slip through a sea kayak hatch or into a canoe pack.

The stand is extremely robust but lightweight (1kg) and can be adjusted to two different heights or even be used flat across a couple of rocks. It can be used for grilling or supporting a pot or two. The grill itself locks into the supporting stand via a very innovative series of slots on each corner. Once tensioned, it is very secure.

Coupled with this is the Fire Safe pan. Again, it folds down into a neat package (under 1kg) and, once assembled, seems very robust. It keeps the fire up off the ground whilst providing a good airflow to keep things burning.

An excellent solution for cooking on a small fire. There will be trips where I will just take the grill system and others to use the combination. It is undoubtedly going along on my UK trips this year.
