Sometimes, when you see a new piece of kit, you think, “That is such a clever idea; why hasn’t someone thought of that before!”

SeeCap is the brainchild of adventure lovers and married couple Mel and LuLu. They wanted to create something simple and unobtrusive to make you more visible if you get into trouble out hiking or on the water. In fact, you can use it for many sports, including swimming.

The cap is a high visibility, reflective beanie, which is super soft and snuggly warm inside. It’s a one-size-fits-all cap, so you will be fine unless you are blessed with all the brains! It comes in a perfect little pouch that you can clip almost anywhere, so there is little danger of your cap being misplaced. For such a tiny thing, the pouch is well made and robust, with a clip and the option of a small strap for your waist belt. It also has a secondary zip pocket for cash or sweeties! The whole thing, from the cap to the pouch, is incredibly lightweight.

I’ve paddled and hiked in the SeeCap, and it’s been chucked in the washing machine to freshen it up. For me, things are always about the ‘feel’, and the cap is so comfortable to wear that you almost forget you have it on. I often get hot when paddling, and the first thing to come off is my beanie, which I usually throw on the front of the board – now I can pop it in its little pouch and attach it to the bungees on my board!
