Sea to Summit Big River Dry Bag

Whether you’re paddling all year round or just over the summer, a dry bag is an essential piece of kit. It’s somewhere to store your keys, a change of clothes, a first aid kit or even just some lunch. You also need confidence in your dry bag’s ability to be waterproof to protect your expensive items like a remote/digital key or possibly a mobile phone.

I’ve been testing the Australian brand Sea to Summit, 13L Big River Dry Bag, which hasn’t disappointed me. It’s been designed to be lightweight yet super rugged. The nylon material comes in four colour ways.

The standard black, picante red, surf blue or gold brown has the option to purchase a sling strap to make it even easier to carry around. The interior material is white, helping to brighten the bag making it easy to see your belongings. Another interesting feature that makes the dry bag stand out is the multiple lash points and double ‘D’ rings, giving you endless attachment options and making you want to use it in other situations.

As an instructor, I’ve been using mine to hold my first aid kit, silver foil blanket, microfibre towel and a board repair kit. This still leaves me plenty of room for food or an extra layer. It’s been my grab-and-go bag. It even came hiking with me as it was so easy to attach to my hiking backpack that I didn’t need to transfer the safety equipment.

Overall, this bag has held up well, and I’ve thrown it, dragged it, and fully submerged it when teaching self-recovery techniques. Everything has stayed perfectly dry, and the bag is fully intact. I’ll invest in the sling strap, as I’ll use this bag on and off my board. durable and warm.

Dry bag: £44.00. Sling strap: £10.00
