Palm Chinook Seaswastex Touring Jacket

Palm Equipment has been working to reduce its environmental impact for some time, and recently released the Seaswastex range, made from recycled marine waste such as nylon fishing nets.

The Chinook jacket, part of Parma’s 2026 touring range, takes on the features of the Bora drysuit.

A well-fitting jacket, built well and designed to last. The fabric feels tough and durable while staying breathable, and the new colour range looks great. True to size, this jacket is very comfortable.

The sleeves are tapered to aid paddle position, and the cuffs feature a latex cuff and Velcro adjustable wrist to tighten as needed.

On the front of the jacket, there are nice spacious pockets which are fleece-lined. I loved these on my Bora suit, as you can reach inside your PFD and keep your hands warm. Easy-to-grab zipper on the pockets.

At the waist, there is a full twin waist system that works with or without dry trousers. Bear in mind that if you plan to use this without dry trousers, the jacket will feel short, as it’s generally worn with bottoms.

My favourite feature on this jacket has to be the neck. I love that it’s not a latex neck; the inner neck is Velcro and comfortable, so it will not run on long paddles, whether canoe, kayak or SUP. An outer zip-up baffle also protects against weather and sits high on the face, with a fleece liner to block the elements.

The removable hood zips off easily and stashes away. Bag it if needed, but it doesn’t get in the way. It features two adjustable pull cords to tighten it, and one on the back of the hood. The hood feels slightly smaller than the Bora’s hood. It has space for a helmet if needed, but it doesn’t feel too big without one.

I absolutely love this jacket, and the new azure-and-navy colour scheme is stylish and practical. This will be a great jacket for anyone doing some serious winter paddling and wanting to be environmentally conscious.
