EasyMarcs kayak cart
About nine months ago, we were contacted by Marc and Marianna from EasyMarcs, a small company in the Netherlands. After getting frustrated with other carts they used during their kayak trips, they developed a new kayak cart. We jumped on board!
The delivery went fast; we received a box containing a pair of wheels, a frame, and a manual. Assembling the cart is straightforward: fold the frame open, put in the wheels and secure them with safety pins. That’s it. Ready to roll.
The carts use bearings on the wheels. That is the reason why it rolls that smooth, even on terrain. The wheels are relatively small. That’s why storing the cart in your kayak bulkheads during a trip saves a lot of space. However, the wheels and cart itself are high enough to prevent the stern of your boat from bumping to the ground when pulling the cart. We were concerned about driving through loose sand as we know larger, inflatable wheels are better. Due to the use of bearings, this effect is only minimal.
Sustainability!
The cart looks and feels sturdy and smooth. This is craftsmanship; the welds are nicely done, and the system has been thought through. Now it comes: all parts are replaceable. This is something I never had on previous carts. Most of the time, just the pins are sold afterwards. In the past, I had to buy a new cart every two years because of wear and tear due to driving through the sand and salt. Not with the EasyMarcs: everything can be repaired or replaced: bearings, wheels, pins, inserts where the wheel’s axis goes in, bolts, rubber. This is where this cart excels!

The materials used are high quality. The cart is built with stainless steel. One thing was changed during the test after our feedback: the stand. It uses a plastic stand to let the cart stand upright. This stand can be folded away when not in use. This plastic has been upgraded to a stainless-steel standard. The pins were also rounded a bit, and measurements of the berth for the axis are slightly wider (allowing assembly even with a bit of sand/dirt).
Since EasyMarcs did something with our feedback, we can honestly say that this is the best cart that we used so far. The price is relatively high compared to other carts, but you will only buy once. The price is fair, considering that this is a high-end product made by kayakers for kayakers.
For the record, we tested for a longer period, and we love to review thoroughly. We drove the cart several times from home to the beach, about 2 km. We drove on asphalt, concrete, wet/hard sand, dry/loose sand, through water puddles on the beach, and a few times on a pebble beach. Although it is recommended, we barely rinsed the cart with fresh water to see for a short time what the effect would be on durability.
