Aqua Bound unveils award-winning Aerial Whitewater Paddles

Aqua Bound, a leading innovator in the paddle sports industry, is proud to announce the Aerial whitewater kayak paddles launch. This family of paddles is the product of meticulous engineering and design and is customised to meet the unique requirements of whitewater kayaking. The Aerial lineup is poised to revolutionise the world of whitewater kayaking by delivering unrivalled durability for exceptional on-water experiences.

The announcement of Rapid Media’s 2024 Paddling Magazine Industry Awards reinforces the excitement. With more than 38,000 ballots cast from retail buyers, consumers and media, the Aerial Carbon paddles were voted Best Paddle. These awards recognise significant and innovative achievements in developing products introduced to the paddlesports market this year.

Key features of Aerial paddles include:

Lam-Lok™ US Patent Pending technology:
Double down on edge and blade protection with revolutionary Lam-Lok™ US Patent Pending technology. Lam-Lok™ mechanically bonds the laminated blade layers together with over five metres of an aramid thread per blade, dramatically extending the life of the paddle. In addition to resisting impact and abrasion, Lam-Lok™ is 5-10x more effective at fighting delamination than blades without it.

Composite Blade Peg:
A reinforced carbon blade peg maximises the strength of the blade-to-shaft joint while maintaining consistent stiffness/flex of the whole paddle. This new blade peg creates the feeling of a monolithic one-piece construction with the added benefit of built-in durability.

Precision Blade Design:
Aerial blades feature a wide, flattened foam spine that simulates the performance qualities of full foam-core blades. The larger core area and localised reinforcements maximise strength, stiffness and durability. The blade shape is a blend between asymmetric and symmetric; the surface area is more symmetrical from top to bottom, but the perimeter is reminiscent of an asymmetric blade. Aerial blades are offered in two sizes: the Aerial Major (45.5 cm x 19.2 cm, 700 sq. cm) and the Aerial Minor (44 cm x 20 cm, 645 sq. cm).

Ergonomic Shaft and Tactile Grip:
Both straight and crankshaft options are designed with industry-best indexing and comfortable control. The elongated, softened triangular grip shape helps paddlers intuitively know blade position in relation to hand position. A slightly tactile, rubberised overcoat helps paddlers maintain a controlled grip, but don’t worry–it won’t destroy established calluses.

“We are thrilled to introduce the Aerial paddles to the whitewater scene,” said Kate Wright, Marketing Manager at Aqua Bound. “The Aerial family is the result of Aqua Bound’s commitment to innovation, performance, and quality. Whitewater enthusiasts have been asking Aqua Bound to bring something to market to revolutionise the sport and the durability of paddles. We’re happy to deliver on that request.”
